AN-225 "Mriya"
The heavy transport aircraft An-225 "Mriya" was developed in the OKB. ASTC under the leadership of General Designer P.V.Balabueva. The aircraft is designed to carry bulky cargo a total weight of 250 tons within the fuselage and on the external load in any point of the globe. AN-225 can be used as a launch facility for the military space forces and rockets of the new generation, or as a component of maritime search and rescue complex, which also includes a winged type "Eaglet" (located on the fuselage of the aircraft An-225 and reset air on arrival at the disaster area).
An-225 is equipped with a navigation radar, analog four-wire system, quad inertial navigation system, navigation system blocks "Laurent" and "Omega". The cargo compartment is sealed. Above it is the passenger compartment with a capacity of 60-70 people. There fore cargo ramp, means of mechanization of loading and unloading operations. Above the fuselage equipped with mounts oversized cargo, including the space shuttle "Buran" and elements of the carrier rocket "Energy".
On a design similar to the AN-124 "Ruslan". The first flight took place on December 21, 1988. May 13, 1989 An-225 transported the space shuttle "Buran" from Zhukovsky to Baikonur. The aircraft has six turbojet engines D-18, with a thrust of 23,400 kg each.
