China is trying to clean up the sky
The Chinese Government is making every effort to clear the air in Beijing. Condition improved and the amount of air it contains harmful emissions reduced through the adoption of measures by the organizers of the Olympics, the organizing committee before the 2008 Games has decided to temporarily close down factories and construction sites in the capital of China and its surrounding areas, and reorganized the movement of vehicles on the highways of the city. But the most important factor, alas, can not be affected:
1. Before and after the Forbidden City in Beijing, July 28 (top) and August 2 (bottom). With these pictures, the Chinese government is trying to convince the success of the planned action. But the biggest impact on air quality has weather.
2. Skyline June 28 ...
3 ... and 1 August. at the end of last week, the air seems cleaner. reason for that was heavy rain and wind. Since August 2 ...
4 ... the sky was covered with a veil again of smoke and dust.
5. Coal heap before the power plant and steel factory in the Chinese province of Gansu: Air pollution has greatly increased during the economic rise of China.
6. Dirty air in Beijing (December 2007): The International Olympic Committee, fearing for the health of athletes, in advance of the Olympics drew attention of the Chinese Government on the bad air quality.
7. Many athletes are in Beijing in protective masks.
