200 000 X-ray head
July 13, 1987, the year the scientist AP Bugorski stuck his head into a working particle accelerator
Russian scientist Anatoly Bugorski was the only person in the world, which has passed through the head of a proton beam from an accelerator. Radiation dose to the inlet was 200 000 X-ray at the output - 300 000 X-rays.
The event took place by chance during a previous experiment, high beam intensity was not necessary, therefore, to automatically lock the door, as it turned out, we turned off. Scoreboard on the door does not shine because of the light bulb. In addition, Bugorski calling on the panel, said that the channel will be five minutes, and came, apparently, a little earlier than the operator removed the beam. Anatoly Petrovich bent down to tools and his head hit the invisible danger zone. Before his eyes flashed sparks scientist, and he lost consciousness.
When Bugorski taken to the hospital, the entire left half of his face was swollen. For a time, doctors doubted that the person who received a dose of radiation, able to survive. However, after a while the scientist went on the mend, his intellectual abilities are not affected. It is completely deaf in his left ear, and for some time suffered from epileptic seizures, but then they stopped. Currently, Anatoly Petrovich continues to work in the planning and conduct physical experiments at the U-70.
