Leakage of information has led to the disclosure of offshore accounts known persons
Leakage 2, 5 million of confidential documents on the accounts of more than 120 thousand companies in the British Virgin Islands, the Cook Islands and other offshore "havens" has led to the disclosure of information relating to the major figures of the political and business world, according to an article on the website of American journalism Organization International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
The documents analyzed by the journalists from almost 40 world media, including the BBC, The Guardian, Le Monde, The Washington Post, shed light on money transfers and business ties between corporations and individuals from more than 170 countries and territories over the past 30 years. As noted in the article, a leak can produce a "bombshell", because until now this information has been closed, and the transaction or the beneficiary companies to find out anything was practically impossible.
According to various estimates, offshore accounts can be up to 20 trillion dollars of funds, the origin of which can be partially questioned. Journalists associated with some of the accounts of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his family, the treasurer of the election campaign of French President Francois Holanda Jean-Jacques Ogier (Jean-Jacques Augier), and even with his wife, the First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, Olga. Analysis of the documents currently ongoing - even after 15 months of study to make the final picture on financial flows into offshore companies and the owners of the money failed. For comparison, the data leaked US State Department in 2010, published by the site WikiLeaks, was about two gigabytes of data. The amount of data to offshore companies at the hands of journalists, is 200 gigabytes.
