In 1978 g.po assignment Navy command CMDB "Almaz" start designing more powerful amphibious hovercraft (DKVP) under the code "Bison". Setting the envisaged increase in travel speed, landing loads (up to 3 main tanks), strengthening the artillery and electronic equipment.



Maximum load capacity of up to 150 m provides transportation of equipment and personnel in a variety of ways: 3 main battle tank of any type of a total weight of up to 150 tons, or 10 armored personnel carriers - up to 131 tons, or 8 BMP - up to 115 tons, or 8 amphibious tanks, or 140 paratroopers from the standard weapons. To accommodate personnel landing there are 4 rooms with 140 seats. If necessary, a room for combat vehicles may be equipped with removable benches to accommodate an additional 360 people (total 500).



From 1988 to 1994 for the Soviet Navy and Russian built 6 MDKVP pr.12322 "Bison". By the end of 2002 in the battle of the Russian Navy were 3 ships of this class. Between 2001 and 2004, 4 ships "Bison" (2 Russia and Ukraine) were delivered to Greece.
