Flying crane XH-17 was the first helicopter unit project Hughes Aircraft.
To speed up the creation of a helicopter, part yli borrowed from other aircraft. The front wheels were taken by B-25 Mitchell and back to the C-54 Skymaster. Fuel tank base is taken from the B-29 Superfortress. Cockpit of Waco CG-15, and the tail rotor of the Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw.
He still holds the record for flying vehicles with the largest rotor system. Only one copy was built, as the unit was very heavy and inefficient
