Diagram Award

There is a prize given every year for the most strange and unusual name in the book regardless of its content. The award is called "The diagram» (Diagram Award) and is awarded every year by the British edition of «The Bookseller». The award - a bottle of champagne. The award is presented since 1978. The winner is determined by voting on the website edition.

So, this year, the most strange name, the recognized "get lost shopping carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to the identification in the field" by Julian Montague («The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification» by Julian Montague), which received 1866 votes out of nearly more than 5,500 cast.




In second place "Tattooed Mountain Women and Spoon Boxes of Daghestan" Sharon Clottey («Tattooed Mountain Women and Spoon Boxes of Daghestan», authored by Sharon Clott) with 1365 votes.


Well, and the third with 685 votes in the book titled "It is better that never was: finding the existence of damage" David Benatara («Better Never to Have Been: The Harm of Coming Into Existence» by David Benatar).

As I said, the award has been awarded since 1978 when it won a book entitled "Minutes of the Second International Workshop on Nude» (Proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Nude Mice).
