For thousands of years the river water Koran paved the way dumped limestone, forming a natural dam that created a number of beautiful waterfalls, lakes and caves. In 1949, it is unique in its beauty of the place became a national park in Croatia, and thirty years later it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Register. The park is a mountainous terrain and includes 16 large and several smaller lakes (conventionally called 'upper' and 'lower'), 20 caves, and countless waterfalls.
