Cats by Susan Herbert

British artist Susan Herbert adores cats. These are affectionate pets become heroes of her works.











Susan was born in Hampton on 30 September 1945, received his secondary education at Solihull School. In 1972 she studied for one semester at school drawing Ruskin in Oxford. Susan began her career working at the box office of the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1963 - 1968 respectively, at the London Coliseum (1968 - 1975) and the Theatre Royal Bath (1976 - 1978). This work led to the development of anthropomorphic art that puts the images of animals in the paintings of the old masters.







In 70 years, Susan creates as a freelance artist. At that time, her works were shown at the Royal Theatre and Gallery Kings Circus, in Bath.





During the 80s it expanded its field of interest, showing thumbnails of the United States (1984) and published in a number of publications paintings (1989).















The main exhibition of her work was held in 1990 in the gallery Crypt, in London. During the '90s, Herbert reached more widely known, to publish a book with Thames & Hudson, including "Diary of a Victorian Cat" (1991) and "Impressionist Cats" (1992). Her popularity was confirmed by the international traveling exhibition, which kicked off in Tokyo in 1995.
