Artificial aurora under the hood

American scientist William Gronoff (Guillame Gronoff) from NASA Langley has developed a unique concept that allows you to play in an artificial environment natural phenomena. In particular, he created the aurora (Aurora Borealis).

Of course, the project is not implemented independently. Basis was unusual bulb dome, which was developed by Sam Walker (Sam Walker) from the University of Texas LeTourneau. In addition to the dome, the scientists took a magnetic field and charged particles. It clarifies Mr. Gronoff, they demonstrated not familiar to earthlings aurora. It is about local auroras that occur on Mars and Uranus. There, these phenomena do not occur because of the global magnetic field and its local counterparts.
