Claes Oldenburg (Claes Oldenburg) was born in the Swedish capital Stockholm, almost 83 years ago. After three weeks, he will celebrate his next birthday. At the age of seven years Klas moved with his family to the United States. They first lived in New York, and later moved to Chicago. Thanks to his father, a diplomat, the Swede got a decent education at Yale, and then at the Art Institute of Chicago. At age 23, he received US citizenship and moved to New York. Initially he worked as a reporter and then joined the local creative elite and completely gone into the art of creating sculptures. Since 1976, he has worked with Kose van Bruggen, which after a year of cooperation happily married. Today, Claes is considered one of the leading sculptors in the genre of pop art.
