Green border the world's longest highway through the desert

This highway is located in China's Taklamakan Desert and called Tarim Desert Highway. Its total length is 552 kilometers, of which only 106 kilometers are populated territory.

The route connects the town of Luntai and Minfen, passing well to the north to the south. Given the fact that almost all along the roads are sandy dunes, the height of which an average of 20 meters, the road would have long since absorbed the sand. Thanks to green areas, this is not happening. Naturally, arid terrain would have long ago destroyed the trees. They live thanks to the irrigation system that feeds the plants groundwater. The road plays an important economic role in the region. Since the desert detour would take too much time and money.
