Perennials that will slowly bloom from June to August, delighting the hostess

Many gardeners want to get a beautiful garden. But time and effort for regular care of flowers is not enough for everyone. The solution can be unpretentious perennials, blooming all summer. They do not require special care, but year after year they will delight you with their bright colors.

To plant flowers and forget about caring for a flower bed for a long time, you need to make a thoughtful composition, choose which plants and where to plant. It is advisable to select varieties with different flowering dates, but prefer the same conditions.

Astilba

The favorite of gardeners is among the “long-playing” perennial flowers. Small openwork flowers of astilba, collected in lush snowstorms of pink, white or lilac shades, decorate the front gardens from the beginning of July until the onset of the first frosts.

Where to plant.

Depending on the variety, the height of the plant can reach 1-2 meters. Therefore, the place for astilba is better to choose in the back of the flowerbed. The suitable area should be wet and sufficiently shaded. Ideally, there is a pool or fountain nearby.

The advantages include frost resistance and the fact that astilba can live in one place without transplantation from 7 to 20 years. Before wintering, the shoots of the plant should be cut so that they are on the same level with the surface of the soil.

Its bright yellow flowers look like small sunflowers. But no less attractive to the plant give long and narrow leaves, falling like cascades of a waterfall. Sunflower can become a beautiful vertical accent in the flower garden of short plants. If desired, its height can be painlessly regulated by pruning.

Where to plant.

Suitable place without strong wind in the open sun or in the penumbra. The plant is not frost-resistant enough, but it can easily be corrected by abundant mulching for the winter.

Lupin

Unpretentious lupin was loved by flower growers for the bright beauty of carpal inflorescences. The plant blooms in May-June, but the duration of flowering can be extended by pruning the wilted flowernoses.

Where to plant.

Lupin is not demanding on the soil, feels great both in the sun and in the shade. The root of lupin is monolithic, goes into the soil to a depth of 2 meters. Therefore, it is desirable to immediately plant the plant in a permanent place of growth.

Narcissists

Beautiful messengers of spring - daffodils - can grow in the same place from 3 to 7 years. They bloom in April-May. In addition, their bright green foliage retains decorative properties for a long time.

Where to plant.

Narcissists prefer sunny and windless places. However, in the shade they bloom longer and have longer flower-noses. Not demanding on the soil. In hot weather, they need watering. And in the first winter after planting, it is desirable to cover them with a layer of peat or mulch 5 cm deep.

Aquilegia

The bizarre bells of the aquilegium adorn the flower beds from the beginning of May to the end of September. In the first year of development, it forms a root socket of leaves. In the second year, she produces several flowernoses. And bloom in full force begins in June-July for the third year.

Where to plant.

Planting in the shade is preferred, as the plants produce larger flowers. In the middle of Russia, seeds are sown in the ground in early April. Before that, you need to stratify them, cooling for a month in the refrigerator.

Garden chamomile

GettyImages Nivyanik, or garden white chamomile, is a familiar inhabitant of our gardens. It blooms from July until the frost. And in one place without a transplant can be up to 7 years.

Where to plant.

Nivyanik likes open areas without excessive moisture. It is not suitable for heavy clay or sandy soils. In dry weather requires regular watering.

Geran

Pelargonia, better known to us as geranium, refers to ground cover plants that can cover the area with a real carpet of delicate flowers. In addition to decorating the garden, geranium protects the soil from drying out, inhibits the growth of weeds around itself and scares away aphids.

After planting in open soil, geranium does not require any special care. It can be attributed to long-lived plants that can grow in one place for more than 15 years. The plant blooms from May to the end of August.

Where to plant.

Unlike chamomile, geranium feels great in shaded areas. But it's soil-demanding. The ideal option for her is loose soil with good drainage. For young plants, peat, vermiculite and perlite are added to the soil mixture.

Ashscholzia, or California poppy

Perennial plant from the Makov family will perfectly decorate any garden. Yellow, red or cream flowers can reach 5-9 centimeters in diameter. And the California poppy blooms from the beginning of summer until the fall.

Where to plant.

Like all the flowers in our collection, the escholzia is unpretentious. It can be sown directly into the ground, without unnecessary hassle with sprouting. It tolerates drought well, but from excessive watering and strong wind it begins to wither. If necessary, water it better in the evening when the flowers are closed.

Vasilki

Perennial garden cornflowers have been familiar to us since childhood. They perfectly coexist with peonies and nivany, are not demanding in care, and can bloom almost all summer.

Where to plant.

They can easily tolerate shade, but prefer sunny places. They don't like excess moisture. They prefer neutral soil. In addition, you can extend the flowering with a complex fertilizer.

In conclusion, the combination of plants from our list will help to create a flower garden, which even without much care will please you with bright colors from spring to autumn.
