The work of the device is based on one obvious principle. To collect droplets in the atmosphere, it is necessary to create a maximum number of condensation centers. The latter can be used, for example, dusty or charged with electrostatic electricity particles. Then the drops of water can collect in the clouds, and then in the clouds.

This idea cannot be called innovative in the full sense of the word. A similar technique has already been used to produce precipitation in a laboratory cube. However, installations with a long range have not yet been able to create anyone.

The main problem of the high-power laser beam was its rapid destruction in an open atmosphere. That is why the length of his action was never long. Employees of the University of Arizona announced the development of a fundamentally new technology, which in theory allows you to obtain a laser beam of any length.

The essence of the technology is as follows: a powerful laser beam is enveloped by an auxiliary beam with less intensity. The additional beam acts as the shell of the electric cable, that is, protects the main powerful laser stream from scattering in an open atmosphere.

In addition to protective functions, the auxiliary beam also serves as an additional energy source for the main laser beam. Therefore, the main powerful beam energy can flow over distances of tens of kilometers, and this length will be enough to cause full rain.

So far, the new development has been tested only for a length of 2.5 meters. But thanks to Pentagon funding, scientists have already begun assembling a working model that will have a beam of several hundred meters. The interest of the military in this technology is justified by the fact that with the help of a powerful radiation stream that is transmitted for several kilometers, this laser installation can be used as a full-fledged weapon with a long range.
