Stable development of geothermal energy

Geothermal energy is growing steadily at 4 to 5 % per year. Currently, nearly 700 geothermal power plants are under development in 76 countries.

The highest demand for such energy in the developing countries of Africa and Asia. For example, in the Philippines geothermal market is 1.9 GW of energy, and Indonesia — 1.3 GW.

Geothermal power plant is served by an underground "pockets" of boiling water. Steam rises through pipes and rotates the turbines of generators to produce electricity. The global potential of such clean energy can reach 13.5 GW by 2017.
