Plastic can decompose faster thanks to the new drug

Scientists of the Astrakhan state technical University have created a drug that helps to speed up the period of disintegration of the polymeric materials.

The project author Anna Kashirskaya received the drug through the allocation of the soils of the region of microbial destruction.

According to the authors, developed by the biotechnology contributes to the reduction of toxic substances. It is established that in seven years the plastic film has lost more than 66%, the strength of other polymeric materials also have been significantly reduced.

This development may subsequently develop "clean" technologies for utilization of polymers, and will allow you to use the products of their decomposition as a fertilizer of the soil.

Note that in natural conditions the process of decomposition of polymeric materials lasts more than 100 years.

The head of region has declared readiness to support the project. He stressed that in the future we can use best practices for disposing of plastic waste without harming the environment.
