“Smart” buoy will warn about the approach of sharks

Over the past 20 years, more than 200 shark attacks have been recorded on the beaches of Australia, which is undoubtedly a powerful anti-advertising for potential beach lovers. A group of engineers led by Hamish Jolly, together with the Coast Guard, developed a “smart” buoy that will help avoid encounters with bloodthirsty predators.
As you know, sharks have a natural radar with which they find prey. The “smart” buoy was the result of a thorough study of the behavior of the shark and the principle of its radar. The device detects the signal emitted by it and activates the warning system, which, through satellites, warns the rescue service about the approaching danger. All that remains is to call an alarm on the beach.

So far, only a prototype of a “smart” buoy has been created. It weighs 35 kg and can stay in the water almost indefinitely. The device does not require special care, except for routine preventive examinations. Serial production is scheduled to begin in the coming years.
