Luxury over the abyss - a residential house on the edge of a cliff

Australian company «Modscape», specializing in block modular architecture, has developed a stunning design of a five-storey house suspended above the sea on the edge of a cliff.

The project, called “House on the Cliff”, meets the growing demand of customers who want to build their homes on the most picturesque areas of the Australian coast. The idea of this prefabricated house was inspired by the sight of sea shells, strapped on the side of the ship. He actually does not rest so much on the rock as hangs, “clung” to its vertical slope.

Without violating the harmonious horizon line, the House on the Cliff becomes its continuation, acting as an additional element of natural topography. The unique location also gives its residents a unique sense of community with the ocean raging below, at the same time the lightweight construction of the building allows them to securely fix it on the uneven surface of the rock.

The block modules make up a vertical architectural plan, the rooms are located one above the other and are reliably reinforced with steel rods in the slope of the rock. You can enter the house through a small patio on top of a cliff, next to which there is a parking lot for cars.

The floors are connected by both an elevator shaft and flights of stairs, while the bedroom, living room, and kitchen are located on different floors.

The feature of all interiors of the building is the minimum amount of furniture, which emphasizes its openness and harmony with the ocean and the horizon line.

On the lowest floor there is another open patio that seems to float above the water. Placed there furniture, outdoor kitchen and Jacuzzi enhance the unique feeling of “suspension” above the ocean waves.

Despite the fact that this is still only a project, the House on the Cliff has good prospects for implementation on the vast rocky stretches of the coast, still uninhabited.
