Mercedes introduced the latest sports car

The Mercedes-AMG plant in Affalterbach, where the German company Mercedes-Benz officially presented a completely new sports coupe Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 2016 model year. After a long wait and all sorts of teasing, we still waited for the world premiere of an excellent car, the production of which will open a new page in the history of the legendary brand.

A lot of emotion and admiration! But let's start with the main thing. Two variants of the new sports coupe will be offered on the world market: Mercedes-AMG GT and Mercedes-AMG GT S. As previously reported, the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe will use the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powertrain, which received the factory number M178. Various innovative materials and components were used in the production of the new engine. All this is done to improve the operation of the power unit and improve fuel efficiency.

In the standard version of the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe, the new M178 engine will produce 462 horsepower (at 6,000 rpm) at 600 Nm of torque (1,600 to 5,000 rpm). In the combined cycle, fuel consumption will be 9.3 liters for every 100 km. CO2 emissions are 216 g/km. That’s a lot, but what are we talking about? This is a real sports coupe!

A separate conversation deserves the design, style and positioning of the latest sports coupe. Some experts claim that the Merecedes-AMG GT and GT S 2016 model year is a direct successor and replacement for the legendary model SLS AMG. You don’t have to be an expert to see the difference between these two great cars. The new Merecedes-AMG GT coupe is significantly smaller both in size and because it is under the hood. Our view is that the new Merecedes-AMG GT and GT S coupe is writing a whole new chapter for Mercedes-Benz and AMG. Do not call the novelty SLS AMG Coupe version 2.0. This is a completely new car, which, by the way, has the factory number C190.

While there are no official pricing figures yet, we expect the new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe to cost around 100,000 euros in Germany. That equates to $130,000 or £80,265. As information becomes available, we will definitely update the material. By the way! The world premiere of the new Mercedes-AMG GT S coupe was held not by anyone, but by Nico Rosberg, the driver of the Mercedes-AMG Formula-1 Team racing team. The main competitors will be the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Jaguar F-Type Coupe.
