The earth may have been formed from the millimeter pebbles
Computer simulation of formation process of chondrules asteroids millimeter dimensions gave reason to believe that the Earth was "born" in a similar way – from the tiny pebbles of round shape. It is believed that Hendry is the building blocks of our Solar system.
The study showed that asteroids were formed by "sticking together" of chondrules under the action of gravitational forces.
Hendry have the right size to have slowed down the gas around the young Sun and to capture the gravity of asteroids, said astronomer Anders Johansson from Lund University.
As reported by IBTimes, Johansen, along with his colleagues from USA, Denmark and Germany modeled on the computer the formation of asteroids. According to the model, the asteroids were cooked in a cosmic ocean of chondrules and quickly turned from small particles in a celestial body with a diameter of about 1,000 kilometers.
The model showed that the asteroid continued to grow until he gained weight, comparable to the mass of the planet Mars.
It is assumed that a rocky planet such as Earth was formed from cosmic dust around the young stars. Accumulations of material formed asteroids, which at the collision destroyed or "glued" together, forming a planet for 100 million years. However, scientists are still unclear how the process of formation of the protoplanets themselves.
A recent study showed that the proto-planet formed very quickly from asteroid, capturing Hendry in the same way as asteroids.
This theory is supported by studies of Martian meteorites, which show that the red planet was formed within 1-3 million years. The same time period were obtained by computer simulation.published
