Scientists from IBM have solved one of the main problems of quantum computing
Quantum computers will one day be able to make complex calculations simple routine exercise that is not time-consuming. However, in its current form before quantum computing has a number of complex problems making them practically useless chunks of iron.
One of these consists in the difference between underlying units of information. In conventional computers, their role play bits, quantum qubits, or quantum bits. Each of these qubits can be a zero (0), one (1) or, more importantly, both of these values (or state). This is what gives quantum computers with incredible computing capabilities. When one qubit exists in two values (or States) is called the phase ratio.
However, real quantum computers errors can occur when the qubit is in both States. They can pose as a normal change value 0 to 1 (inverting the bits), and the change in the phase relationship (the phase inverter). Although there are already methods that help to identify these two errors, these methods do not allow to do this analysis simultaneously for both conditions. It is not possible to build robust quantum computer. For the creation thereof, it is necessary to know all possible errors that can occur during a quantum computation.
To solve this problem, it took the company IBM, the technology giant has been the necessary solution, which allows to detect errors and not to destroy inside the qubit information:
"The method proposed by the research team and IBM Research, is to build a network of two independent "syndromes" qubit and two qubits for data. In this bundle each of the "syndromes" of qubits opens one aspect of quantum information that is stored in the other two qubits (the qubits of data), United in the network". The definition of the joint quantum information in qubits of data is an important step for the correction of quantum errors, as the direct connectivity to the data qubits destroys the information contained in them".Scientists from IBM say that this method of error detection is at an early stage of development and in the future it is planned to introduce a similar test in larger arrays of qubits, which are going to build in the future. published
