Chamarel – seven coloured earth Bashny.Net

 

It's a wonderful place no less remarkable corner of the planet – on the island of Mauritius. Seven coloured earth is a very special Park of dunes. Here you will see the most unusual landscape you can imagine: multi-colored striped dunes. They mixed various shades of yellow, blue, green, purple, brown, blue and red. Most clearly all the seven colors and their shades can be seen at sunset when the sun rays fall on the tops of mountains striped. The main feature of Chamarel is that in this place the colored Sands spontaneously settled in different layers of the dunes, which recently acquired a surrealistic, striped colouring. A similar phenomenon can be observed on a smaller scale: take a handful of sand of different colors and pour it in a transparent container a little shake and You have a piece of Chamarel sand to exfoliate and display little striped dunes. Another interesting feature of colored earth is the fact that the color of the sand remains constant even during heavy tropical rains.





The Sands here were formed during the decomposition of volcanic rocks (basalt), then turned into feralitni soils on the principle of hydrolysis. Part of this miracle of nature just two basic elements — iron and aluminum, which connect and create different colors. Various shades of these colors, as scientists believe, are the result of solidification of volcanic lava when exposed to different temperatures, but the causes sequential separation of layers yet to be fully scientists has not been elucidated.



Since 1960, this colorful place has become a major tourist attraction of Mauritius. Currently the dunes surrounded by a wooden fence, so visitors can no longer climb the colorful mountains, but tourists are free to consider the dunes is not only about fencing. For these purposes, the Park has several viewing platforms at different heights.
