"Drozd" - stone violin on which you can play

"Drozd", also known as the Black Stone of the Violin - a full-size violin made of black diabase, created by Antonio Stradivari pattern and capable of playing like an ordinary wooden violin. It created a Swedish artist Lars Videnfalk Drozd and called because of the color and the habit of calling his Stradivarius violin in honor of the birds.

In 1990 Videnfalk engaged in registration of a concert hall in Oslo (Norway) and drew attention as diabase "sings" when working with hammer and chisel. He wondered whether it is possible to create a real stone from this musical experiment, and decided to embody in stone drawings of the legendary violin Stradivari.

The stone from which made violin Videnfalk taken from an old gravestone of his grandfather - it became unnecessary when the family made a joint grave and a monument - and in two years has made remarkable violin weighing 2 kg.

Drozd - the world's only rock violin that can play. Some composers even wrote music specifically for this instrument.
