The world's smallest guitar the size of a white blood cell

On this guitar, you can even play - with a laser lucha

Skilled at Cornell University in 1997, it managed to create probably the tiniest in the world of musical instrument - the length of a miniature guitar is only 10 microns.

Despite its size, the guitar has six full strings, each of which is thick hundred atoms. Its shape is similar to the famous line models «Fender Stratocaster», a tool made of crystalline silicon, with decorative bauble is not - it is possible to play on, but only with the help of a laser beam.

Getting on the strings, the beam causes them to oscillate and the resulting interference pattern at the same time can be converted into an audio signal. The frequency of vibration of tiny strings approximately 130 thousand times higher than that of conventional guitars thus the human ear is not able to hear that sound. Guitar can be adjusted by applying an electric current to it, that changes the length of the string.
