Finnish nature photographer Nimelen Joni (Joni Niemela) made a series of photographs, which depict real "serial killer" of insects - carnivorous plant sundew.





Sundew (or Drosera), probably the most well-known and widespread carnivorous plant that can meet almost any type of soil. It received its name because of the presence of moisture droplets on the tips, similar to familiar to us all dew.

Despite its innocuous appearance, sundew acts like a real predator. Her hairs on the leaves secrete mucus - alkalod coniine - by which plants and paralyzing insects. After that, the victim is dissolved and the plant absorbs the resulting mush.
