Scientists from the Perm State National Research University (PSNRU) have developed a new process for producing ultra-strong material - nanotsellyulozy. Under normal conditions, the material viscous, when exposed to mechanical means it shows the properties of the liquid and in the solid state becomes stronger than steel.

"The structure of this material is represented densely packed array of needle-like crystals. This accounts for its strength that surpasses stainless steel », - shared with the press of the Laboratory Alexander Maksimov
he said.

Material comprises cellulose fibers 5-20 nm in width and in length from 10 nm to several microns. To obtain it, you can use the waste pulp and paper mills, which would otherwise have to be disposed of.

Nanotsellyulozu in PSNRU get in a complex six-step production. At one stage the material has to be cleaned of impurities lignin , polymeric compounds of the cell wall and intercellular plant space. To do this, the researchers prisosobili specially bred strain of fungi Aspergillus niger (A. niger).

The inventors predict widespread use of the new material - from adhesives bandages and dressing up filters, body armor and machine designs.

Two years ago, in order to overcome the difficulties of the process Dr. Malcolm Brown of the University of Texas offers a way nanotsellyulozy growing, but so far it has not shown serious technology achievements.
