The length of coastline stretching south from Calais and about the small town of balloons were powerful outpost of German troops on the coast. It was here that Hitler expected Allied landing, and the lion's share of power was thrown exactly on the construction here of the strongest line of defense. It should be noted that the allied counterintelligence worked perfectly and skillfully launched by the Germans launched misinformation misleading. In fact, the landing took place in a completely different part of France, in Normandy, which is more than 250 kilometers southwest of Calais.
