The treasure of the English writer, or the pursuit of a golden hare (11 photos)
An interesting thing happened in 1979. What happened can be called a real "gold rush", or to be more precise, the hunt for the golden rabbit.
It all started with the fact that the English writer Keith Williams has published a children's book called "The Masquerade».
The book is a tale about the moon, the sun and the hare, who was to deliver a gift of love of the Moon the Sun, but lost treasure somewhere along the way. The book contains 16 illustrations, in which clues to find hidden treasures. Along with drawing books, Keith has made the very treasure - gold pendant in the form of a hare. In the book it took three years and a month for the manufacture of the treasure. Rumor has it that the amulet took on nearly all a poor condition when Williams.
Pendant was sealed in a ceramic box (also in the form of a hare) and filled with wax, so it was impossible to find a metal detector. Casket with one witness was buried in a secret location, at which point the keys from the book.
The book is published in 1979, and all England rushes on a treasure hunt. There were quite a few wells dug before the treasure was found. It happened two and a half years after the release of the book. Keith Williams was a sketch of a secret place by Ken Thomas. And though he did not solved the riddle, but the place was specified precisely and the prize went to him.
Then, just a couple of days, Keith Williams received a letter from two teachers in Lancashire. They found the right solution to all riddles, but did not send the letter because have decided to dig up the prize. Keith Williams was very upset that the prize went to the wrong person. And not in vain, because the newspaper Sunday Times found that Ken Thomas (as it turned out, this is unreal his name) got a clue gotten, having obtained information from a friend Keith Williams, with whom he lived while writing "Masquerade." He broke a terrible scandal, which strongly influenced the artist, he hid from reporters in the provinces, while continuing to create.
Gold Bunny is missing for many years, but recently, in 2009 with the BBC contacted the granddaughter of the man who bought the pendant at auction. She heard a program about Williams on the radio. Hare was in their family heirloom and to extract once a year at Christmas. Meeting Williams with Golden hare was very exciting, he thought he would never see it.
Draw text books and the structure of its decisions were poorly translatable from the English language. Only the Italians released their version, with his hare. Their treasure was buried under the heel of the statue of Neptune in Monterosso al Mare.
The statue is located on the wall of a cliff at the edge of the sea, making it rise to a dangerous heel, but in 1982 took a brave treasure.
