At the Chernobyl nuclear power plant successfully completed the first ascent of the future designs of the sarcophagus. The colossal arch structure after its completion in 2015, will be moved on rails toward the existing "Shelter", and then fixed on him. During the first operation the installation of modular structures of about 5,000 tons of steel were raised to a height of 22 meters.

The fully assembled dimensions of the sarcophagus of 257 meters long, 164 meters wide and 110 meters high. It will weigh about 20 000 tons. It should be noted that funding for the project is coordinated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
