Fruit bats (Pteropus) are a genus of bats in the fruit bat family. They feed on the juice and pulp of fruits and flowers. They live in South and Southeast Asia, New Guinea, Oceania, Australia and Madagascar. It is large in size, up to 40 cm long, with a wingspan of up to 1.5 m (Javan Kalong), and a small tail. The muzzle is pointed, the ears are small, in general, the head resembles a dog or fox. About 58 species.
