The main Olympic flame, which this year was presented in the form of a balloon, was lit by French athletes - track and field athlete Marie-Jose Perec and judoka Teddy Riner.

The official song of the games was the composition Parade by French composer Victor Le Mans. The concert program was opened by American singer and actress Lady Gaga, who tried to convey the atmosphere of a cabaret with her performance.
