At one time, Alla Pugacheva became famous throughout the country thanks to the legendary song “Arlequino”. But few people know that the Russian version of the popular hit created for the singer Boris Barkas. The Soviet songwriter was not destined to continue his musical career. He became homeless and began wandering the streets in search of a better life. But everything was solved by chance, or rather the Diva herself. Until Alla Pugacheva was lucky enough to sing a Bulgarian hit on the stage of an international festival.

However, the words did not fall on the music. And that's when Boris Barkas took over. He was an old friend of Pugacheva's. He was friends with words and music and composed his own. From the pen of Boris came an updated text. With him Alla Borisovna and went on stage.

Alla Borisovna was sure that Boris went to live abroad. Instead, he was not having the best of times. There was no work and money, the man starved and collected bottles to somehow stay afloat.



Instagram / @allapugacheva_koroleva At one point, the composer ended up on the street and then settled in a homeless shelter. That's where the Diva found him. It turned out that Boris lost his passport. He loved to kill and lost everything he had. He has never been able to go back.

When Barkas’ story was heard, he and Pugacheva were invited to television. After the broadcast of the program “Let them talk”, the singer made a firm decision to help Boris financially. The diva bought Barcas an apartment. But that didn’t change the situation much.



Boris was already on the verge of his death. He continued to drink, and soon he was gone. And the apartment safely went to one of the closest relatives of the composer. They say daughters. Pugacheva had the opportunity to refuse the deal, but she did not. Good soul, what can I say?

At the dawn of his career, Boris Barkas worked not only with Pugacheva, but also with other musical performers. At some point, the poet’s songs were banned in the USSR. And he was forced to go to Estonia, where he was sheltered by a friend.



Back home, Boris took up any work, but the soul lay only for writing poems. Unfortunately, he was never able to earn a living. Then his wife died suddenly. Barkas continued to drink hopelessly and lost everything. The gift of the Diva could not put the man on his feet. And in 2007, he died. Bright memory!
