Hydrangea is a real favorite of most gardeners. Of course! This unpretentious refined flower can brighten any garden. The name hydrangea was in honor of the sister of the Prince of the Holy Roman Empire of Charles Henry of Nassau-Siegen.

Later, botanists gave it the name Hydrangea, which means "container of water", because the flower is very hygrophilous. In Japan, the hydrangea is called "ajisai" — "a flower, like a purple sun."

Features of cultivation
  1. The majority of the hydrangea flowers are white, but can have completely different color. It all depends on the level soil pH: neutral soil flower color white or beige in alkaline — purple or pink, and in acidic blue. The latter is due to the ability of plants to accumulate aluminium, which is released from acidic soils. To create a composition of colorful shrubs, it is enough to change the acidity of the soil under each of them.

  2. Hydrangea is an incredibly water-loving plant, because it is necessary to treat watering of the flower very seriously.

  3. Flower likes filtered sunlight and partial shade. In a Sunny position it will also root, but in this case, delicate petals quickly fade and the blooms will be short-lived.

  4. A balanced diet is one of the main principles of care of hydrangeas. If you overfeed the plant with organics, then flowering definitely not wait. Remember, it is better for underfeeding! Nitrogen can and should be made only in the spring, and then switch to phosphate and potash fertilizers.

  5. Shelter for the winter — a must! Because even the most cold-resistant varieties require heat in the winter. But if your hydrangea is still froze solid, don't give up! Most likely, she will be back in form after the growing season.

  6. By the way, the hydrangea is extremely rarely sick and affected by pests!

  7. Pruning is an important part of plant care. Timely and competent pruning promotes lush flowering and involves the removal of old inflorescences to the first pair of healthy and strong kidneys.

  8. Another important aspect! For maximum comfort hydrangea requires loose, rich in humus, acidic soil. If you satisfy these simple conditions, your garden will certainly decorate very beautiful flower!

You will never regret it if you put in your garden hydrangeas! From spring until autumn she will delight you with his heartwarming and charming beauty.
