Slight memory impairment can lead to senile dementia
354 Catholic priest, monk and nun passed clinical trials in the past 13 years, died and underwent postmortem autopsy, in the name of science. The aim of the study (Wilson etal., 2010) conducted by the Center for the study of Alzheimer's disease (Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center) in Chicago, USA, and published on 15 September 2010, balisacan role neuropathological changes in the brain accompanying senile dementia and deterioration of cognitive functions.
In the course of the study, in the elderly the rate of deterioration of cognitive functions was at first slow and gradual, and then rapidly increased (more than 4 times) in the last 4-5 years of life, presenting a picture of progressive dementia.
Robert Wilson, the leading scientist of the group, said that the first sign is a mild deterioration of cognitive functions are generally considered a symptom of normal aging, however, it turns out that, in fact, they are the signs of progressive dementia, in particular Alzheimer's disease. When a person enters into the stage of rapid development of the disease, he invariably found posthumously neurofibrillary plaque – specific brain pathology related to dementia. In the absence of such plaques, strokes and other abnormalities, cognitive deterioration does not occur. This means that even the slightest changes in memory that we so affectionately call “multiple sclerosis”, can be a sign of abnormalities of the brain, and in fact – slowly progressive dementia. It is very important to understand, though it sounds harsh: scientists do not find any other reasons for the deterioration of cognitive functions, except for pathologies related to dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Other factors such as increased sugar, Smoking, lack of mental alertness, etc., affect the rate of progression of the disease, but are not causes.
To date, little is known of the methods of prevention of deterioration of cognitive functioning. One of them, perhaps the most powerful — brain training, or brain fitness.
Apparently, specific, intense and variable brain activity related to training of the brain, somehow stops or significantly slows the growth of pathologies. Therefore, if someone feels that a memory with age is not as reliable as before, is immediately engaged in its training. The probability that the memory itself becomes as before, — equal to zero, and that in the brain began pathological changes – close to one hundred percent.published
