The Tuileries Garden

The Tuileries garden is the oldest Park in the world, the largest Park in France, one of the most beautiful parks of the planet, whose layout still serves as an example for all Park designers. Tuileries in French means "tile factory". In fact, the Tuileries gardens, built in the XVI century on the site of the quarry from which the clay was mined for the production of ceramic tiles. In 1559 on the orders of Catherine de Medici built the Tuileries Palace, surrounded by a large garden in Italian style. This garden reminded the Queen of her native Tuscany...

1660 and 1664 year, the garden was redesigned by the famous architect, andré Le nôtre, Creator of Versailles, the Royal chief gardener of Louis XIV. Built according to his project the banks of the Seine became a part of the garden. Was placed Grand beds, pools, fences built instead of the high terrace, lined with wide avenues, which over time became, in his continuation of the famous streets such as Champs elysées or Rue de Rivoli.

From the time of Louis XIV, the Tuileries became a public place visit as not only a place for walking persons close to the Royal court. Already in the XVIII century, the Park was equipped with all conceivable amenities for visitors cafes, kiosks, benches and toilets. However, after the death of Louis XIV, the Tuileries garden thoroughly launched, because the money for him was never enough. Already during the life of andré Le nôtre, who created a sample Park design, was forced to look at how overgrown and destroyed his creation.

Until the XIX century the Park was decorated the Palace of the Tuileries, which had, according to stories of witnesses of that era, a wonderful view of the Louvre, but the Palace was burned during the revolution in 1871. And since then, the Park really came into decline. But recently, in 1989, the authorities decided to restore the garden of the Tuileries, this is the oldest Park in the world, preserving the historic design. However, do not miss the opportunity to decorate the Park with some modern sculptures.

Des Tuileries, separated from traffic, all of its 25 hectares full of peace and tranquillity, so the garden refers to such parks where you can take a chair and sit all my free time. Among the many fountains, pools, sculptures... flowers, herbs and trees.

There are provided the opportunity and culture. On the territory of the Tuileries garden are two museums, the national gallery jeu De Paume" and the "Orangerie". Building two of these museums are, among other things, the remains of the legendary Palace of the Tuileries, as a decoration which was created in the garden. Today, the Tuileries garden is blooming and is rapidly becoming the same symbol of France as the Champs elysées, the Eiffel tower or Versailles.
