Kitchen waste—organic alternative fertilizer

Growers in all countries to regularly feed their indoor "Pets" as granular and liquid fertilizers. Flowers received another "vitamin cocktail" to grow faster. But, unfortunately, the composition of the soil in the pots with your Pets will not change.

Of course, you can buy ready ground and add it to pots or when transplanting to pour that regularly practiced. But increasingly even with the ground trusted manufacturers of gardeners bring in all the different animals, whether it be caterpillars, beetles or flies. The seeds of weeds, unfortunately, are not uncommon.

Many gardeners are interested in so – called alternative fertilizers with kitchen waste. They are able to improve the condition and structure of the soil, and certainly do not contain any unpleasant surprises in the form of pests.

Weak tea and coffee grounds.
Tea leaves (including tea, herbal, mint, for example) and the coffee is really make the soil in the pots easier. The advantage of using: "neutralize" an alkaline soil. Negative side use: if you have moved the soil and flies, making these funds will dramatically accelerate the rate of their reproduction. So use this fertilizer only in the complete absence of these animals.

Tealeaf is added when the handling of colors in larger pots and planters. At the bottom laid a layer of clay, then a layer of sleep tea (small), top covered with earth. The plant is transplanted with a lump of "native" land. Plant residues with this method very quickly becomes a light substrate. In addition, they hold moisture in the soil. But fertilizer in the full sense of the word Tealeaf or coffee grounds can call impossible. This is just the fillers of the soil.

Eggshell.
The shell is a source of calcium. But he, unlike nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, is not the primary fertilizer. The shell, ground into a powder, will benefit provided that she will be together with mineral fertilizers. This is because most of these fertilizers increases the acidity of the soil and the shell acts as a neutralizer of this acidity. There is a positive effect of the soil is less subject to acidification. When making eggshell into the soil, remember that it decomposes very slowly, so do not make it too many more times, know the measure. Any seedlings will develop slowly (and in some cases – even die) if you go overboard with fertilizer. A similar effect was observed in seedlings of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. The powder of eggshell – fertiliser for stronger plants.

Onion peel.
Once a month you can treat your plants with an infusion of onion peel. They should spray the plants and top soil with the purpose of preventive disinfection. Pour peel about six cups of boiling water, hold heat for a minute and a half. Leave for two hours, strain through cheesecloth and pour into a spray bottle. It is necessary to spray fresh solution using it all at once (keep the solution impossible). Almost all plants perceive this solution as a fertilizer.

Peel of an orange.
Used like onion skins. Spraying a solution of orange peel is the prevention of the appearance of spider mites. The solution is prepared at random. Fresh or dried peel of oranges (or tangerines), with six cups boiling water. Insist 12 hours, drain. Spraying will please you not only efficiency, but also give a wonderful smell of orange, which will stay in the room for a few hours.

Other experiments.
Often you can find the information that plants can be watered with water that remained from rinsing buckwheat, rice and other cereals, as well as peeled potatoes. Maybe useful, but particularly effect, as a rule, not marked. Drainage can replace the husks of sunflower seeds, but it is to a greater extent fertilizer for pits with compost.

As you can see, these are all natural components of course, in varying degrees, will be useful for your indoor plants. But they will never replace a fertile breeding ground.
