What is Energy Star

Energy Star – certified energy efficiency standard of goods, adopted in most developed countries.

If the product is the Energy Star mark – it means:

Reduced energy consumption by 20-30 percent in comparison with similar product.
Have been complied with environmental requirements in production.
The manufacturer understands its social responsibility.
You have the opportunity to participate in the program of greenhouse gas reduction and energy consumption reduction.

This certification was introduced by the Agency for environmental protection of the United States in the early ' 90s to stimulate the market for environmentally friendly products and the reduction of world energy consumption.

Initially, certification was voluntary, the Commission had merely identified and promoted energy efficient products, but in ' 95 the standard was tremendously expanded, adding more than 40 thousand products to the list. Now certification to be almost all electrical appliances: small and large household appliances, office equipment, lighting, etc.

By 2006 it was estimated that the US has saved more than 14 billion $ thanks to the program. At the moment, this certification promotes the installation of led traffic lights and economical equipment worldwide.

Recently there was a lot of criticism of Energy Star, which made the requirements more stringent.

P. S. And remember, only by changing their consumption — together we change the world! ©
