The Eastern Caribbean will help RES



The Caribbean development Bank (CDB), Japan international cooperation Agency (JICA) and the inter-American development Bank (IDB) aim to change the energy landscape in the Eastern part of the Caribbean.

These three organizations will support the efforts of Eastern Caribbean States to reduce high energy costs and to reduce dependence on fossil fuels through diversification used in the region of the types of energy and promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency. This plan was approved during the signing of the Memorandum of cooperation between the three structures. The main emphasis of the programme is on geothermal energy.

Reduction of poverty through inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth and resilience to external impacts and natural hazards are the basis of development financing, the CDB and technical assistance to its borrowing countries, said Nigel Romano, Vice President, operations, CDB.
