BMW Point. One S – electric vehicle charging station is solar powered
BMW has ambitious plans for electric cars and hybrids. This is evidenced by the desire of German engineers to develop not only cars themselves, but to their owners the necessary infrastructure of charging stations. In cooperation with architects from the German firm EIGHT, BMW has created a concept charging station Point. One S, which boasts of an array of solar panels and is designed for electric vehicles i3 and i8.
Conceptual structure, installed in front of the exhibition center BMW Welt in Munich, has the shape of a curve of a bird's wing. It will serve as a prototype for the creation of a set of similar charging stations across Germany.
Wing awning also boasts an intelligent lighting system based on LEDs that can alert users at a distance of about busy whether the charging station. The wall Point. One's mounted touch screen with an intuitive interface, necessary to control the charging process of electric cars. Surplus electricity generamos solar panels is transferred to the Central grid.
