Golden jigsaw: Danish archaeologists have discovered a mysterious spiral of the bronze age
A team of archaeologists recently made an intriguing discovery in Boeslunde (Denmark): about two thousand tight gold spirals, which experts dated to the Bronze age.
The gold in these locations had been found before – over the past few years archaeologists have dug out of the earth here a few artifacts from precious metal. However, these spiral put scientists in a deadlock. They have called the discovery the "Golden puzzle".
Spiral made of flattened wire of pure gold, thickness of only 0.1 millimeter. Some of them reach three inches in length and weigh from 200 to 300 grams. On the appointment of the spirals is necessary to guess only, however the specialist from the National Museum of Denmark number of Fleming believes that most likely they were used for offerings to the gods.
"One of the most revered in the Bronze age symbols was the sun, and gold in the representation of then living people had magical powers, writes Col. It is possible that the priest-king was wearing a gold ring on the wrist, and the Golden spiral – the cloak or headdress during religious rituals." It is possible that the gold was placed in the graves as part of a bizarre sacrifice.
But whatever the true purpose finds the value, uniqueness and its value cannot be overemphasized. published
