With whom to be friends identify genes
US researchers say: discovery of the genetic basis of friendship. Using data from two independent studies, they found that carriers of one gene associated with al * ogolizmom tend to be friends with each other. But people with another gene associated with metabolism and openness remain apart. These results were published in the research journal «Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences».
So, people with the gene for alcoholism - DRD2 - were very close with people who have a similar marker. Another gene called CYP2A6, are involved in metabolism and associated with openness to new experiences and ideas, on the contrary, lead to the fact that people are sharing it, do not interact with each other. Scientists do not know what is the cause of this pattern. Maybe it's in a semblance of a defense mechanism.
Study leader Professor James Fowler, says: that genes may to some extent explain why we instinctively like or dislike people that we meet. Just understanding the genotypes that underlie friendship, will enable a better understanding of this issue, the expert said.
