Falcon 9 splashdown
Let me remind you, July 14 carrier rocket Falcon 9 into orbit communication satellites 6 Orbcomm OG2 , after this first stage of the missile entered the atmosphere and successfully made a soft landing in the Atlantic Ocean. This test confirms that the first stage can descend into the atmosphere at hypersonic speeds, restart the engine twice and releasing landing gear, the drive successfully.
Exposure to water systems has resulted in damage to the rocket, but it did not stop to get all the information necessary for further operations.
Now the company SpaceX is taking steps that would minimize the accumulation of ice on the camera to improve image quality.
As for the next two starts, they will be produced at a high geostationary orbit, which would not allow to carry enough fuel for landing on the engines.
The next attempt will be made on the 13th flight of Falcon-9, but with a low probability of success.
After this, it is planned to put a rocket on a hard surface.
