Experimental interface using skeomorfov

For a long time iOS criticized for using skeomorfov : green backgrounds a la poker cloth, "wooden" shelves and "leather" firmware. However, new experimental interface relies on skeomorfy not in the design and in the toolbox.

The very idea of taken from a concept developed by experts from Carnegie Mellon University in conjunction with the Future Interfaces Group . The essence of the idea: people use the tools to manipulate the world around them, so why not use them to work with a touchscreen?

Interface TouchTools involves using virtual instruments that replicate the operation principle and the appearance of these prototypes. For example, to make a screenshot, you need to fold your fingers as if you are holding the camera, and it will immediately appear on the screen. Do you want to erase? Fold your fingers as if holding an eraser. And so on.

Looks impressive. But is it comfortable? Yes, there are people who are much more convenient to use some "off-line" tool and not to drive his fingers on the touchscreen. But the experience of millions of people, including children from infancy, suggests that modern "manual" interfaces are very comfortable and do not cause any problems when teaching use.

In addition, many have forgotten what it is - keep holding magnifying glass or an eraser. Cut and paste the text, which of you is what makes it with scissors? Perhaps we have already come to the level of introduction of electronics, when skills are being squeezed her "natural" skills with real, physical tools. And despite the unusual and nostalgic view of this experimental tool, it is unlikely he will be massively used.
