Days of the week on English





Few people know that the days of the week in English, named in honor of the gods. British ancestors worshiped different gods, they were pagans. In honor of the most important of them were named days of the week. I propose to review them.

List:

Monday (Monday) - Moon day. In honor of the goddess of the moon, in Norse mythology, the god of Mani.

Tuesday (Tuesday) - Tues day. In honor of the god Tyr, in Norse mythology, the one-armed god of valor.

Wednesday (Wednesday) - Wednes day. In honor of the god Odin, the supreme god in Norse mythology, father and leader of the Aesir.

Thursday (Thursday) - Thur's day. Is dedicated to the oldest and most brave son of Odin and Phrygia - Torah.

Friday (Friday) - Freyja day. In honor of the goddess of love and war - Friga or Freya.

Saturday (Saturday) - Saturn day. Even the Romans was a holiday saturnialy, dedicated to the god Saturn - the god of harvest.

Sunday (Sunday) - Sun day. Sun God (Helios) was the chief deity of many people and this is not surprising.
