The offensive in the Ardennes (codenamed it. Wacht am Rhein - «Watch on the Rhine") - operation of German forces on the Western Front during World War II. Spend December 16, 1944 - January 29, 1945 in the Ardennes (south-west of Belgium) in order to change the situation on the Western Front, defeating the Anglo-American forces in Belgium and the Netherlands, and free up forces to the Eastern Front. The German offensive in 9 days after the start ended with a crushing failure, the Wehrmacht and spent only wasted resources that could be useful for the defense of the Allied invasion of Germany.
