A couple of facts about our satellite
The site not so long ago, I will try to lay out some photos from the text. Please do not break the compilation of the end will tell.
Why change the phase of the Moon? Why does the moon when rises, big and yellow, and a little over your head and bright?
The first question is easier, though statistics show and interviewing acquaintances, many people here are beginning to "float" and talk about how the Earth's shadow falls on the moon, etc. Well, something like this
In fact, the shadow of our planet can be seen only during a lunar eclipse, and the change in phase depends on the angle from which we see the sunlit moon. In the figure are in the center of the Earth, on the Moon kruge- shown and how it is illuminated by the sun, and outside kruga- as we see these same phase. The arrows indicate the direction of top sunlight.
And thanks to this entertaining astronomy, we can see this
Well, as I said at the beginning, the issue is not so complicated. At least those who do not know usually agree with the structure of the world and much dissonance in existing knowledge, this fact does not make. But it should be said that the apparent size of the moon is always the same and near the horizon, and high in the sky as immediately begins bathёrt bitter smell of bonfires and the medieval Inquisition. Yet there she saw a big and red, and a couple of hours a little! The most "competent" authority claimed that the atmosphere as a lens increases the size of the moon. The atmosphere changes only TsVETtak both sunrise and sunset light is tangent to the earth's surface, so that the path traveled by light in the atmosphere, it becomes a lot more, and short-wave part of the spectrum is scattered, and before we reach the yellow and red part of the spectrum. And the size is always the same. It seems incredible but it's true. Apparent differences in the amount of it is just an optical illusion! (Already felt the heat from the fires of the Inquisition). The explanation is based on the fact that the angular size of the moon is seen in comparison with the located objects on the background of it. The moon on the horizon involuntarily compared with objects of known (and considerable) size (trees, buildings, etc.) and seems to be "larger than large." A similar effect was called Ebbinghaus illusion.

The photo shows that the size of the same.
And most importantly, everyone can easily see this. The easiest way to demonstrate the illusory nature of the effect - is to hold a small object (like a pencil) at arm's length, while covering one eye. Let pencil closes half drive "big" Moon, wait a couple of hours when the moon will be "small" and repeat the experiment with a pencil, and you will see that it also closes as only half of the visible disk. The measurements using a theodolite and photos of the moon at various heights above the horizon shows the immutability of size, about half a degree, and the projection of the lunar disk on the retina of the observer always has a size of about 0, 15 mm.
Everything. You can kick. If you have learned something new, and can put a plus sign.
