This Canadian project in the framework of which on board the ISS will be installed two high-resolution cameras and they will take pictures of the earth's surface and to broadcast full-color images live.
Cameras mounted on the International Space Station and accordingly will make a 90-minute orbit around the Earth 16 times a day.
After calibration, which can take several months, the cameras will transmit images to Earth. For the first time any web user will be able to see the Earth in space with a delay of only 45 minutes (maximum - a few hours).
UrtheCast cameras should be placed on the Russian segment of the station. The parties agreed that the Canadian operator will earn by selling photos and video from space, but the Russian side will receive free photos and videos of Russian territory from the cameras. The head of Canada's Scott Larson says UrtheCast will sell photos and videos to government agencies, businesses, and send the image to the Internet to subscribers.
