The new device is a flow battery. It uses liquid materials, powered by chemical reaction of iron-chromium storage of energy.

On technical parameters, the new battery was very powerful. It can store one MW*h of electricity. This is enough to work 10 thousand units bulbs incandescent 100 watts each for one hour. The claimed service life of materials up to 20 years.

Technology may soon benefit from a utility company operating with large amounts of renewable energy like solar or wind energy.

Storage conventional electricity development can seem inefficient (lost about 30% of the energy when charging). The battery on the basis of iron-chrome is 80% cheaper than competing technology of flow batteries based on vanadium.
