Crop Circles
The secret of crop circles discovered
In Namibia, where the grasslands end and the desert begins, people are watching this amazing phenomenon for several hundred years: in the fields with thick, lush vegetation, there are smooth, both in compass circle of bare earth.
Over the years, put forward a lot of different hypotheses of their origin - from termites to poisonous gases.
Recently, a group of researchers put forward a new theory.
Gettsin Stefan and his team have been studying the causes of crop circles for 15 years.
They considered and rejected many theories (including Termite and poisonous gas) and put forward his own version: circles may be the result of the struggle for survival of the plants.
Some plants absorb all the water contained in the soil, resulting in some parts of the moisture does not remain simple and they dry up.
The idea seems quite reasonable, as there are circles, as a rule, in the border with the desert areas where water supplies are very limited.
Gettsin and his team created a computer model of what can happen with grass growing in areas with limited water reserves in the soil. It turned out that the very high likelihood of such a "spotty" the earth's surface, which is very similar to the notorious crop circles.
