Mariana Trench

Mariana Trench, or the Mariana Trench - ocean basins in the western Pacific Ocean, is the deepest known on Earth geographical objects.
Trough stretches along the Mariana Islands 1500 km; it has a V-shaped profile, steep (7-9 °) slopes, flat bottom width of 1-5 km, which is divided into several rapids closed depressions. The depression is on the boundary of two tectonic plates docking in the area of ​​movement along faults, where the Pacific plate goes under the Philippine plate.
